Would you change anything about the book? -We would change the introduction to the book and make it more clearer.

How would you describe the main characters? -The characters are interesting and Jan is the most interesting because of the things she has done and maybe will do.

"I didn't trust anyone around here." Page 57
"'So this is it,' Jan said, 'we just wait?'" Page 65
"You want to know what really gets me?" Page 23
"I slid my hand down between the sheets until i found Jans hand" Page 69
Person D:
First we discussed and then answered the question of the week. Which was, On your group's wiki page, describe the main characters in your text. What makes them interesting? What is their story or background? Why are you drawn to them? Conversely, are there any characters that you just cannot stand? Why not?. First week talked about David, the husband. After him we talked about his wife Jan. Then finally their son Ethan. After that, even though they weren't main characters, we talked a little about David's parents. Once we finished talking about the question of the week we talked about Kyra's questions. Out of all of the we spent the most time talking about her first two. The questions were did we like the intro and if we could change anything about the book what would it be and why.
We talked about those two questions the most for a few reasons. Mainly because the intro and first few pages in the book were very confusing. It goes from the family at a amusement park to David at work. What we wanted to change was the story starting with the intro as the first chapter in the book. The first chapter or so was just about David at work and at his parents house. Those few chapters we all found very boring and did nit really enjoy reading them, we enjoyed the intro much more. After that we took a break for a little and had some snack. Then we ended with Kyra's quotes.
Week 2:
Person A- Caitin Person B&C-Krista Person D-Kyra
Person A: The language of the book is easy to read. The book is very conversational. Most of the words in the book are easy to understand. We think the grade level of the book is towards early high school students.
Person B: "He promised to take me to New York to see an actual Broadway musical" Page 115. " "I'm kind of doing a double. Wanna make it a triple? Having a life is hugely overated Campion" sighed" page 131. "No lights on after ten on a Saturday night" Page 133" "Lyall probably would have called the police by now" Page 141 "The woman said " What's to get over? She's dead." Page 142
Person C: What do you think happened to Jan? We think she got kidnapped.
If you were in Ethan's position, how would you feel? We would be scared that they couldn't find my mom.
Now that Leanne is gone, what do you think happened to her? We think she's cheating on her husband.
Why did Leanne say that Jan was dead? We think Leanne has something to do with Jan's disappearance.
Why do you think the Richlers were so confused? We they are just acting dumb because they don't want to be associated with the daughter and her troubles.
Person D: First we all discussed what had happened in this part of the book. We also made sure everyone was caught up with the book. We discussed the questions of the week. We discussed how most of the book is easy to understand. Krista read us her quotes, and then we started to talk about them. Krista explained her questions to us. Caitlin typed the questions and then we discussed them aloud.
Krista’s questions made us think about the possibilities of book and its outcome. We discussed everything that had happened so far. For example, We discussed how Ethan must be feeling about his mother being gone. We put ourselves in that situation and discussed more about it. We predicted that Ethan’s mom was kidnapped. We discussed everything we would be feeling if we thought our mom was kidnapped. We ended on that note.
Week 3:
Person A- Kyra Person B & C- Caitlin Person C- Krista
Peson A:
What is the mood or tone of your book? It is mysterious because they work together and they are both missing. Also her parents are not real and her identity is not backed up. What is the overriding emotion of this book? Weird and creep. What examples back up your claim?
We feel this way because her identity is not exactly real, she has nothing to back it up. Also she is missing and then her co-worker goes missing too.
Quotes from Caitlin: " I love you, " I whispered as i slept next to my life for the last time. page 69 " She didn't want to leave anything to change! " page 167 " Do you know where they were going? What they were going to do? " page 182 " But it only took me another couple seconds to realize it was possible... " page 194 " Outside, I heard the squeal of breaks. Still holding my phone to my head, i slipped past my father and down the stairs and looked out the front door. " page 205
Caitlin's Questions: 1) Why do you think Jan was depressed? Maybe she wanted to divorce him. 2) Why do you think Jan's co-workers are going missing now? Maybe they knew something that they were not suppose to know? 3) DO you have any predictions? Krista and Caitlin thinks she is dead. I think that she ran away for an unknown reason. 4) Why do you think she lied about her identity? We think she was accociated with something bad and did not want to drag her husband and child into to it. 5) Why do you think they are questioning David about his wife's disapeerence? Maybe it is a part of their protocol.
Person D: We first discussed the section of the book we read this week. We made sure we understood everything that is going on for us to be able to clarify the rest of the section. We discussed the question of the week, which dealt with the emotions of the book. The emotions of the book make us feel that we can’t help to think that it’s very mysterious and a weird situation.
We then talked about the quotes Caitlin had brought in. We talked about them and had a very good and deep conversation. After that we discussed the question Caitlin had wrote and talked mostly about questions 2 and 3. Those questions were good discussion questions because it really made us think about other factors in the story. We then ended with a general discussion on everything and predictions on the future story of Never Look Away.
